This type of Protection gives "Access denied" error to open/rename/delete file. even in another OS.
Do following in safe Mode to protect files:
Select file/folder to protect >Properties>Security>Advanced>Inherit from parent the permission...[Checkbox-uncheck]>Remove>Apply>Yes>OK>OK
Do following in safe Mode to unprotect files:
Select folder to unprotect >Properties>Security>Advanced>Inherit from parent the permission...[Checkbox-check]>Apply>OK>OK
OR
Select file to unprotect >Properties>Security>Advanced>Permissions[Tab]>Add>(user name)>OK> Full Control-Allow [Checkbox-check]>OK>Inherit from parent the permission...[Checkbox-check]>Apply>OK>OK
